SAPC, guided by the Holy Spirit, is called by God to teach and preach God's word, to create a climate for spiritual growth, to engage in mission outreach, and to promote peace and justice in the world
January 1952 – SAPC was established with 17 charter members under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Jenkins. The first building was located at 2806 Statesville Ave. Charlotte, NC. Rev. Jenkins retired in 1974.
April 1975 – SAPC called their 2nd pastor, Rev. Wilburn M. Sanders, Sr. The church moved into their second location in 1995 at the current location with 16 acres of land. Rev. Sanders retired in 1997.
August 1998 – SAPC called their 3rd pastor, Rev. Michael Robinson. Under his leadership, the church was actively involved RAIN, CHIP, a tutorial program and a contemporary worship service twice per month. Rev. Robinson served until 2010.
July 2013 - SAPC called their 4th and current pastor, Rev. Amantha L. Barbee. Under her leadership, the church has established a library, opened the Mission Building (a freestanding food pantry), established a liturgy team with major youth involvement, brought amazing musical talent to the church, new signage for the church, hosted public forums, social justice community nights, debates, created a branding logo, website, and social media pages.
